Shelly began her training as an artistic gymnast at the age of 7. After 5 years she realized that flexibility was her gift and switched to rhythmic gymnastics. She competed as a rhythmic gymnast for the next 4 years, practicing at least 20 hours a week, traveling across the country to national competitions, and rising to the top US rank of Level 10 Senior Gymnast.

Shelly started performing locally as a contortionist during her rhythmic career and retired from competition in 2005 to become a full time performer. She now performs frequently throughout the United States and abroad.
